Measat for TV5Monde HD Asia distribution
March 21, 2014
Measat Satellite Systems has announced an agreement with Globecast and TV5Monde to upgrade the TV5Monde channel from standard definition to high definition. Under the terms of the agreement, Measat will distribute the upgraded TV5Monde HD channel via Measat -3’s global C-band beam, covering 102 countries across Asia, Australia, Middle East, Europe and Africa.
TV5Monde switched to HD production and broadcast earlier this year. As of the largest distributed French language channels in the world, TV5Monde’s programming includes 18 daily newscasts, subtitled films and series, entertainment programs, documentaries, cultural programmes and international sports coverage.
“Measat is pleased to support Globecast and TV5Monde, whose decision affirms 91.5°E as the first-choice for Asian HD distribution,” said Raj Malik, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Measat. “We congratulate TV5Monde for switching to HD, and look forward to carrying their enhanced content to audiences across Asia.”
