UK free-to-air DTH satellite platform Freesat is to build on recent innovations such as its launch of a mobile companion app and the September 2012 launch of its <Free Time> smart EPG by launching on Integrated Digital TV (IDTV) sets.
Addressing a Westminster Forum Keynote Seminar on the prospects for the UK television market, Emma Scott, MD Freesat, told delegates that the initiative would be formally confirmed shortly. Scott revealed that the companion app had been downloaded over 130,000 times in the first fortnight following its mid-January launch.
Freesat told advanced-television.com in 2013 that its apps strategy was only to integrate those that enhanced the viewing experience.
