India is a land of broadcasting superlatives where millions are signing up to pay-TV each year, but a survey by SNL Kagan says that of the six major DTH broadcasters Videocon DTH is not just the nation’s fastest growing, but is the world’s leader in terms of net new subscribers.
According to SNL Kagan Videocon DTH added 2.33 million subs last year, ahead of India’s market leader Dish TV (which added 2.2m) and TataSky which added 1.9 million.
Number 4 in Kagan’s list is Russia’s Tricolor which added 1.29 million, followed by Sky Brazil (1.251m) and Sky Mexico (1.12m).
