Levira to provide Turner an encoding for Netflix platform
October 23, 2012
Nonstop Entertainment, part of Turner Broadcasting, has assigned Levira to prepare its content for the Netflix platform. The first portion of titles, including long feature films as well as serials and cartoons in both HD and SD formats, were prepared and delivered for the Netflix Scandinavian launch in October 2012.
This is another step in cooperation between Levira and Turner that started in 2007 when the new Silver HD linear channel was launched from Levira’s play-out facility. Since then Levira and Turner’s partnership has constantly grown and today the majority of Turner’s Scandinavian and Baltic channels are aired from Levira’s facility in Tallinn.
“We are honoured to have this opportunity to extend the scope of our cooperation with Turner Broadcasting, and we are excited to meet new challenges. Content adaptation for the Netflix platform is truly demanding from a technical and time perspective,” said Indrek Lepp, Director Division of Media Services of Levira.
“We have a long experience in working with Levira and we fully trust them to help us take on the technological challenges of distributing film on new platforms,” said Ignas Scheynius, CEO NonStop Entertainment and Managing Director Turner Broadcasting Nordic & Baltic.
