Twonky connects mobile apps and video websites
July 17, 2012
PacketVideo has revealed that its Twonky Beam button will be integrated into BedRocket, ToonGoggles, and U-NEXT’s video websites, as well as within the Anywhere Artist mobile app software development kit (SDK). When watching a video on one of these sites users can click on the Beam button to wirelessly transfer the video from their smartphone, tablet, or PC to their Internet-connected TV or media streaming device.
Consumers can download Twonky’s free software to begin beaming. PC users can download and install Twonky 7 for Mac or Windows, while mobile users can use the free Twonky Beam app from the Android or iOS market.
Osama Al-Shaykh, CTO of PacketVideo, comments: “Our goal in creating the Twonky Beam button is to make it easy for media sites to get their content onto the big screen by using tablets, phones, and PCs. We made sure media sites maintain full control over their user experience, while easily creating the ability to integrate our beaming technology. The Twonky Beam button is a web button that allows media sites to expand their reach to home devices and provide a more interesting interactive experience to their users. With Beam button you are able to play media on the big screen and interact with your site visitor via the tablet or smartphone. Let the multi-screen user experience innovations begin!”
