Gol Televisión achieves record audience

The live broadcast of the match between Barcelona and Real Madrid this weekend was watched on Spanish pay tv channel Gol Televisión by an aggregate audience of 1,052,000 viewers, beating out Canal+ Liga by more than 200,000 viewers which recorded an audience total of 849,000. The most watched minute of the game came at 21:52, when 1,200,000 were watching the last few minutes of the match broadcast on Gol Televisión. The live broadcast saw Gol Televisión achieve a 9.2 per cent share, with an average audience 1,052,000 viewers, compared to a 7.5 per cent share obtained by Canal+ Liga and 849,000 viewers.
With these figures, Gol Televisión reached its best ever audience share figures and its second most watched broadcast of all time with the Barça-Madrid game and only second to the Barça-Madrid match played on Monday 29th November 2010 (1,534,000 million).
In total, the clash between the two Spanish giants was watched by 1,901,000 viewers and matched the pre-game estimates converting Gol Televisión and Canal+ Liga (16.7 per cent) into the most watched programmes in the time-slot.
