Mediaset, Gol TV score UEFA rights
April 13, 2012
From David del Valle in Madrid
Mediaset Spain, the owner of Tele 5 and Cuatro, has renewed its FTA TV rights to the UEFA Europa League until 2015, while pay-DTT channel Gol TV has secured the pay-TV rights. Mediaset España has been awarded the rights to the best match each match week on a co-exclusive basis. The live match, as well as a weekly highlights programme, will be broadcast on Cuatro each match week.
Pay-TV operator Gol Televisión has also been awarded the right to broadcast the best live match each match week on a co-exclusive basis.
According to UEFA, all rights have been granted on a platform-neutral basis, with the rights also being exploited by each broadcaster on Internet – via mitele.es and goltelevision.com – and on mobile.
