Dish Network, the second-largest DTH player over North America, has unveiled a special low-cost channel package aimed at rural – and conservative – viewers. Dubbed the ‘Heartland Package’ the bundle of channels is available for $5 a month.
Viewers will have to buy into Dish’s ‘basic’ family tier, but could then get this Heartland Package which comprises GMC (where the Canadian-produced Heartland family drama series is shown), plus the family-friendly Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel, kiddies PixL, RFD-TV and Rural TV.
Dish delivers a programming package that courts the heart of America with family-friendly entertainment,” Dish senior vice president of programming Dave Shull said in a release. “Parents want to be involved and watch TV with their children, and the Heartland Package brings the whole family together around this combination of family-focused networks. In addition, DISH provides advanced parental control technologies that equip parents to choose the content their children can access.”
