Portuguese DTT on Hispasat
February 7, 2012
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spain’s Hispasat is making DTT available to all Portugal to avoid over the air distribution problems. The most widely watched Portuguese DTT channels RTP1, RTP2, SIC and TVI are being distributed by Hispasat at 30 degrees West to those regions and areas with reception problems.
STBs and dishes to access the satellite signals are being subsidised with viewers only paying €40. Buyers of the subsidised receiver kit need to prove they are living in an area which is not covered by DVB-T terrestrial transmitters.
