Brazil tops 12m pay-TV subs

October’s net subscriber gains in Brazil’s pay-TV sector again showed strong growth. October’s numbers were up 278,000 in October to 12.2 million homes, according to data from Anatel. Some 20 per cent of all homes now have a pay-TV subscription, and this is up some 2.3 per cent in a single month.
During 2011 to date the pay-TV sector has grown by 24.5 per cent, with the satellite side of the business showing stronger growth than cable. Satellite subs grew 3.7 per cent during the month, while cable grew just 0.9 per cent.
