SlingPlayer for Android tablets
October 11, 2011
Sling Media, a wholly owned subsidiary of EchoStar, has confirmed the availability of SlingPlayer for tablets running versions 3.0 or later of the Android operating system. Available for purchase on the Android Market, the application lets Slingbox owners extend their living room TV experience to their tablets and takes advantage of the higher screen resolutions and video quality the latest Android devices can deliver.
New to this release of SlingPlayer is a revamped programme guide that makes it easy to browse content choices while continuing to watch TV. Familiar custom on-screen remote controls closely mimic the same experience the user has from the couch at home.
“A Slingbox is the perfect accessory to an Android tablet,” said Raghu Tarra, senior vice president and general manager at Sling Media. “When combined with SlingPlayer, now anyone with an Android device can enjoy a beautiful, personalised TV experience anywhere in the world.”
