Magnet OTT for Ireland
October 7, 2011
Magnet Networks has launched Aertv.ie, a registration-free service that allows anyone with a computer and an Internet connection to watch live TV without the need for a set-top box, satellite dish or a cable. The new service is a rebranded version of the company’s Magnet WebTV.
In addition to the 11 channels streaming live (including RTE1, RTE2, TV4, TG4 and 3e), the new service will also feature live events and home-produced content. Magnet said users can tweet and update from the same screen thanks to an integrated Twitter and Facebook facility,
Mark Kellett, CEO of Magnet, said people are not consuming TV in the traditional way any more. “Aertv.ie is addressing that, building on what worked with Magnet Web TV by adding new content and making it easier to access,” he said. “Eleven free Irish channels is just the beginning.”
