Telefonica’s Movistar TV has launched a 3D version for pay-TV subscribers in Peru. Telefonica wrapped an agreement with LAPTV’s premium channel Moviecity which will provide its movies. “It is the first and only channel in the region”, said José Miguel Gamero, Telefónica Multimedia – Movistar TV General Manager.
Clients who have glasses and TV sets suitable for 3D-TV will see movies, trailers and factual programming during a two-hour block from 7pm-9pm. Gamero explained that over the last few years Telefònica has invested more than $ 10 million in the improvement and updating of its Digital HD platform. “In addition to our exclusive channels (CMD, PlusTV, Canal N, RPP, FEM), we offer 19 HD channels, the best and greatest offer in the market”, he pointed out. Therefore, Peru has turned into the first country where Telefónica Group offers 3D content.
Movistar TV is the main Pay-TV operator in Peru with a total 700,000 subscriber base.
