Sony’s Qriocity still down
April 26, 2011
The PlayStation Network and Qriocity online services are starting a sixth day ‘off air’ as the company seeks to bolster its security defences following an “external intrusion” of its systems, the company said.
Sony initially turned off both its PlayStation 3 gaming and Qriocity music and video services in the evening last Wednesday “to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward.”
“Our efforts to resolve this matter involve rebuilding our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.”
