February 15, 2011
Digital video media technologist DivX has expanded its collaboration with embedded processing solutions specialist Freescale Semiconductor to adopt DivX HD technology across multiple platforms and support DivX TV on its chipsets.
Matt Milne, Executive Vice President and General Manager, DivX, said the alliance with Freescale would enable its OEM customers to release more quickly DivX HD Certified consumer electronics devices such as tablets and smartphones.
Consumer electronics products with the Freescale processors supporting DivX will join the more than 400 million DivX devices that have already shipped worldwide into the market. All DivX Certified devices contain proprietary digital rights management technology and the ability to play premium Hollywood movies in the DivX format from major studios.
