Zon Multimedia selects NDS for intuitive TV

Portuguese cable operator Zon Multimedia has launched a more intuitive technology for advanced television, together with middleware and conditional access provider NDS.
The new technology will, for example, allow customers to record an entire series and to search or watch other channels, without leaving the one being watched, according to Zon CEO, Luis Lopes.
Named “Iris by Zon Fibra”, the new technology will be marketed shortly and promises a new navigation experience, “much easier, customizable and intuitive”, with the help of a new remote control that has only five navigation buttons.
Zon’s new navigation system for TV is the first commercial version in the world of this new technology, presented by NDS in pilot version during 2009 and which has since collected several industry awards.
