Discovery secures new European output deals

Discovery Communications has confirmed new programming deals with European third party broadcasters to air a combined 200 hours of content from across Discovery’s portfolio of networks.
In France, an output deal has been negotiated with TF1’s free digital terrestrial channels NT1 and TMC to air the latest seasons of popular Discovery series Deadliest Catch and Man vs. Wild.
Italy’s RTI-Mediaset Group has agreed to a volume deal to secure factual entertainment programming including hit series Man vs. Wild, I Was Bitten and Untamed and Uncut. These programmes will air on Italia Uno in the network’s “Wild” primetime slot, set to premiere its third season in November 2010.
Spain’s La Sexta has acquired factual science programmes Next World, Destroyed in Seconds or Prototype This!. In addition, Spanish broadcaster Cuatro has acquired season 4 of Man vs. Wild (El Último Superviviente) and the long-running unconventional travel series Not Your Average Travel Guide.
Finally, Greek broadcaster Alpha TV recently acquired docu-dramas Nostradamous, The Flight that Fought Back and Last Mysteries of the Titanic.
