DirecTV Q3 profits up 9%

US satellite TV giant DirecTV reported higher third-quarter earnings as its US pay TV subscriber growth momentum slowed. The company posted a profit of $565 million, up 9 per cent from the year-ago period. Revenue rose 8 per cent to $7.42 billion. DirecTV signed up 67,000 new US pay TV subscribers in the third quarter. Dish Network unexpected quarterly loss

Dish Network, the second- largest US satellite-TV provider, has reported an unexpected Q3 loss. The net loss was $158.5 million, compared with a profit of $319.1 million a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing Dish lost 19,000 net subscribers in the quarter. Discovery misses Q3 numbers
