Canal+ iTELE on strike

Journalists at Vivendi-backed news channel iTele have gone on strike. The action means that the channel’s ‘Morandini Live’ broadcasts have been suspended, and the launch of ‘CNews’ postponed.
The journalists are demanding that Morandini Live’s news anchor, Jean-Marc Morandini, be fired. Canal Plus responded by saying his broadcasts would be suspended for “operational reasons”.
Morandini is himself under investigation and something of a cloud because of his alleged involvement in the filming of an ‘erotic web-series’ and “aggravated corruption of a minor” with the journalists claiming his presence jeopardises the image of the channel.
