Mexico’s Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) says that Mexico will wrap up its analogue TV switch-off in November. The IFT says that this is the last phase of Mexico’s somewhat drawn-out process of adopting digital TV.

The final move will see 497 low-power relay towers, which serve just 1.6 per cent of the population, switched off. Much of the country started switching over to digital TV back in 2015.

The IFT has not yet given a precise date for the November plan, but is saying that most of the towers will already be transmitting digital signals by September 30^th.

The government is in the process of distributing 100,000 digital TVs or converter boxes to low-income homes, and this exercise will conclude in October.
