Sony’s Google TV in shops
October 13, 2010
Sony’s four model Internet TV line, powered by Google TV, will be in the shops next week, according to the company.
The TVs run Google’s Android platform and will be loaded with apps from CNBC, the NBA, Twitter, YouTube and more. The models also feature Dual View, allowing users to watch television while tweeting about what they’re watching, checking their fantasy football scores, or finding related content on the web. All sets also include a Blu ray player.
“Sony Internet TV is the world’s first HDTV that combines the big-screen impact of television and full Internet search to deliver an unrivaled entertainment experience,” Mike Abary, senior vice president of Sony’s Home Division, said. “Finally, you can seamlessly search your favourite TV programmes and web sites on the same screen, at the same time.”
The TVs will come in 24, 32, 40 and 46-inch versions, ranging from $599.99 to $1,399.99. They will arrive next week at Sony Style and Best Buy stores across the US.
