Spain: Orange reaches 1m fibre subs

Orange has reached the 1 million clients mark in Spain with a network of 7.4 million of passed homes. In the last quarter of 2015, the company passed a further 1.5 million fibre homes speeding up the migration to its new network.
Orange plans to cover 14 millon homes by 2020 with its optic fibre network, 80 per cent of penetration in all cities with over 20,000 inhabitants.
To extend the deployment of its network, the company will invest a total of between €1.5 billion and €1.7 billion. This investment is added to €1.5 billion in 4G with a coverage in Spain of 85 per cent of the population at the end of 2015 with plans to reach 95 per cent in 2017.
