Telenor suspended its CFO and three other senior figures as part of a corruption investigation into VimpelCom, the Russian telecoms group in which it has a large stake.

Telenor, 54 per cent owned by the Norwegian state, has already ousted Svein Aaser, Telenor’s chairman, and forced its former chief executive, Jon Fredrik Baksaas, to sever all ties with the company.  Now it has relieved Richard Aa, finance director, and Paal Espen, general counsel, of their responsibilities.

VimpelCom is under investigation by US and Dutch authorities for alleged corruption in Uzbekistan.
