26 HD DTT make CSA cut
September 16, 2015
From Pascale Paoli-Lebailly in Paris
Following its HD DTT call for tenders launched in July, French TV regulator CSA has judged 26 projects admissible.
Nine free DTT channels such as Gulli, D8, W9, are already broadcast in SD but requested to switch to HD. Others applications include existing pay-TV channels such as Planète+ and Canal+ Cinéma, local channels such as BFM Business Télévision and Campagnes TV, and dedicated services such as Gong TV.
M6 and TF1, who are also planning JV shopping channel Ha26, are trying to convince the CSA to switch their news and entertainment pay DTT channels LCI and Paris Première to free HD DTT.
The CSA has set the hearing for all the projects between September 21st and 23rd.
