Norway: Viasat secures carriage of C More Sport
March 6, 2015
Viasat Norway has secured the carriage rights to the TV sport package C More Sport for its DTH satellite platform. Ten thousands of new Norwegian homes will get access to the 2015 and 2016 seasons of Tippeligaen, the Norwegian top tier football league, and many more sports events.
“Tippeligaen is a new ace in Viasat’s hand. Previously we have had the rights for UEFA Champions League for our channels, as well as distributing Barclays Premier League coverage in the DTH satellite market, but now we have even better cards to play with,” says Vegard Klubbenes Drogseth, CEO of Viasat Norway.
C More’s sports channels will be available on Viasat’s DTH satellite platform from April 6th, the same date as the season start of Tippeligaen. Viasat subscribers will be able to access a whole raft of new sports events in HD quality. C More’s football offering includes six of eight Tippeliga matches per round, and up to nine matches per round from the Spanish La Liga. Italian Serie A matches and UEFA Europa League matches are also part of C More’s portfolio of sports rights. In addition there are ice hockey, tennis, martial arts, motor racing and equestrian sports.
