Montenegro DTT licences for commercial broadcasters
December 15, 2014
From Branislav Pekic in Rome
Montenegro’s Agency for Electronic Media (AEM) has awarded three free-to-air licences to commercial broadcasters for the use of Multiplex 1 (MUX 1) with national coverage.
The licences were awarded, after a public tender procedure, to TV Vijesti, TV Prva and TV Pink M. MUX 1 already carries the two TV channels of public broadcaster Radio Televizija Crne Gore.
MUX 1, which broadcasts on four frequencies (with transmitters located at Bjelasica, Lovcen, Podgorica and Tvrdas), is operated by Radio-difuzni Centar. The Podgorica-based company has the obligation of covering 85 per cent of the population of Montenegro by December 17th 2014.
The first multiplex still has capacity for another 6 TV channels.
