Local nets contest Spain’s DTT plan

A network of small local TV stations (the so-called ‘Community Networks’) has appealed to the Supreme Court against the Government-imposed new DTT plan calling for its halt.
According to ReMC (Red de Medios Comunitarios, Network of Community Media), the new DTT plan is discriminatory as it has omitted the services from the allocation of DTT frequencies.
The new DTT plan divided the radio spectrum into public, private, national, Regional or Local operators, but did not take into account community TV services, which operate in Spain without a legal licence such as TeleK, Televisio de Cardedeu or La Tele.
