No interest in Mexican space slots

Two orbital slots controlled by Mexico have failed to find buyers.
Mexico’s Federal Telecoms Institute (IFT) was auctioning the two orbital positions which could have been used by satellite operators for communications craft. The deadline for bids actually expired on September 26th.
IFT had hoped to realise $18 million – $20 million from the tender.
Mexico itself has its upcoming Centenario and Morelos 3 satellites under construction to boost rural connectivity and due for launch in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Additional the privately-owned ‘Satmex’ (now renamed Eutelsat Americas) system is active in the region.
