Technicolor to represent Warner Bros patents
October 17, 2014
Technicolor has reached an agreement with Warner Bros Entertainment to represent the studio as its exclusive IP licensing agent (outside of patent pool licensing programs) to capture the value of the studio’s patent portfolio.
Technicolor is a strategic partner for Warner Bros in a broad number of areas; specifically, packaged media and initiatives related to technology and licensing. This agreement reinforces the licensing relationship between the two companies initiated as founding licensor members of the Premier BD patent pool, which offers to the industry a comprehensive package of essential patents related to Blu-ray, an area in which Warner Bros and Technicolor have successfully partnered since 2010.
Warner Bros. will rely on Technicolor to monetise its portfolio of intellectual property and partner with technology leaders to grant licences to applicable industries on their behalf.
