Vodafone Italia will bring optical fibre to 25-30 Italian cities by the end of March 2015.

Speaking at an event in Capri, CEO Aldo Bisio said Vodafone started in eight cities (Treviso, Vicenza, Novara, Imola, Sassuolo, Settimo Torinese, Cinisello Balsamo, Sesto San Giovanni) with a few hundred cabinets, but by the end of March 2015 they should have approximately 4,000 cabinets.

Vodafone is present also in Milan where it is offering up to 300 Mbps internet access and will soon be in Bologna, in cooperation with Metroweb, offering the same connection speed to FTTH customers.

At the same event Under-secretary to the Prime Ministern Graziano Delrio, announced that the Italian government is aiming to provide, by 2020, 30 Mbps Internet to the entire country and 100 Mbps Internet to 50 per cent of the population.
