New Zealand television went all-digital at midnight on November 30th. The last analogue transmitters were switched off on December 1st. Broadcasting minister Craig Foss, helped by the project’s mascot, Seymour the Digital Dog, completed the process by switching off the Waiatarua transmission antenna in West Auckland.

Next up is Australia, and the nation goes dark as far as analogue TV is concerned, this coming weekend on and the final transmitter relays will be switched off on December 10th. Sydney will switch off on December 3rd.  This will leave just Melbourne and a few more remote sites, and it is these that will end transmissions on December 10th.
