FRAPA, the Format Recognition and Protection Association, is undertaking a comprehensive report on the global format industry. The report – TV Formats To The World – is being compiled in association with the global TV research agency The WIT and TV Sisters, a journalistic office that provides international programme research to German producers and broadcasters. The full report will be published in October, to coincide with the MIPCOM content market in Cannes.

Ute Biernat, chairman of FRAPA and CEO of Grundy Light Entertainment, said that in view of all the changes that have taken place over the last five years, "it became clear that the format industry needed a fresh look at what's happening in the wider world and how these trends are shaping our business." She expected the report to better prepare the industry in how to keep and share formats, as well as aid their distribution on different devices. "With new drama formats, you have to think about mobisodess nowadays," she added.
