First 4K transmission in Latin America

Telefonica Servicios Audiovisuales, a subsidiary company of Telefonica, Media Networks and Hispasat have jointly made the first UHD transmission in Latin America through Hispasat satellite Amazonas 3.
The signal has been sourced from Madrid and screened on an 84 inch TV set in Rio de Janeiro in Brasil. Loles del Campillo, Product Director of Media Networks, said that first 4K-ready equipments will be launched in the pay TV market in Latin America in the second half of 2014.
Currently, TV Globo is testing 4K transmissions and plans to broadcast several football matches from the Confederation Cup through UHD technology.
