France’s Canal+ Group has been awarded the exclusive live rights to all 380 matches in the English Premier League in a three-season deal, kicking off in August 2013.

“We are extremely pleased Canal + has chosen to invest yet again in our broadcast rights,” Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore, said.

“They are a long-term partner of the Premier League and have a track record of delivering fantastic coverage of the competition. I am sure they will continue to provide our French fans with all the best Barclays Premier League action across a number of media platforms.”

Director General of Canal+ Group, Rodolphe Belmer, said: “We are extremely proud and satisfied, in a very competitive environment, to have renewed our long-term partnership with the Premier League. It is the world’s most admired football competition and much appreciated by our subscribers.”

The games join other exclusive football deals for two leading matches from France’s Ligue 1 and a leading European Champions league fixture. Canal+ lost out to rival beIN Sport in the battle for prime Ligue 1 games and Champions League action.

It is likely to have bid substantially more than the current €24 million per season to beat beIN Sport to the deal.
