Proof that the Latin American market is looking increasingly like a Gold Mine comes from researchers Dataxis, which forecasts that by 2017 the Latin American pay-TV market will have grown to some 97 million subscribing homes.
This number, already attractive enough, is based on the seven largest Latino markets, suggesting that the true total will be more than 100 million.
However, the 97 million will represent a 68 per cent penetration level by 2017, up three-fold on the 2007 position. In Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, the four largest markets, penetration levels will top 87 per cent.
