Sky Deutschland to keep all Bundesliga rights?
May 3, 2012
Pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland might not sell any of its rights to show football matches from Germany’s Bundesliga.
Sky CEO Brian Sullivan told German newspaper Die Welt that the company will not sell the rights, as was expected. Sullivan said that Sky was not a rights distributor and that the company acquired the rights in order to create “an exciting product”.
This could mean that the online distribution rights, currently held by Deutsche Telekom, will not go to Telekom this time and that the company would have to give up its Liga total product.
