América Móvil, the Carlos Slim-backed media giant, is to rebrand its Embratel DTH service in Brazil, choosing the widely recognised Claro TV brand, and thus “simplifying communication [into] the residential marketplace” in Brazil, according to executive director Antonio João Filho.
Claro’s wireless telco subscriber base tops 46 million subscribers, while América Móvil itself (which is Mexico headquartered) has more than 215 million subscribers mainly in Central and South America and the Caribbean.
