Cellnex, Valencia CF boost 5G connectivity at the Nou Mestalla
January 14, 2026
Valencia Football Club and Cellnex have signed a 15-year agreement under which Cellnex will design, install, and operate the Distributed Antenna System (DAS) at the Nou Mestalla stadium, ensuring reliable, high-quality mobile connectivity with 5G capacity throughout all areas of the stadium.
The DAS system, designed for large venues, will enable all mobile network operators to connect immediately, ensuring uniform coverage and high capacity even at peak demand times, such as match days. Telefónica will be the first operator to access this infrastructure from the stadium’s inauguration, offering its customers a premium experience from day one.
Large modern infrastructures tend to block or attenuate radiofrequency signals, resulting in areas with low or no indoor coverage. This system addresses this challenge through a centralised network that distributes the signal via remote antennas, guaranteeing connectivity in stands, boxes, VIP areas, offices, basements, and technical rooms.
What will the Nou Mestalla DAS system deliver?
- Uniform coverage throughout the entire venue.
- High capacity and simultaneous multi-operator support for 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G.
- Scalability as the stadium’s needs grow.
- Integration with Wi-Fi, IoT, security, and emergency systems.
- A tailored design with a discreet and aesthetic installation, reducing interference.
“Our goal is for the Nou Mestalla to have robust and scalable connectivity, ready to grow alongside the stadium and the needs of fans. The multi-operator model makes it easier for all MNOs to connect efficiently and swiftly, maximizing service quality and capacity on days of peak attendance,” said José Luis Ábalos, Levante Area Business Manager at Cellnex.
The Nou Mestalla is being created with the ambition of placing its fans at the center of the experience. The 5G connectivity provided by Cellnex’s DAS system will ensure that fans enjoy a premium digital experience on match days and at any event. It is a key step toward a modern stadium, ready for large crowds and for the services the Club will offer in the future.
