International Podcast Alliance goes live
October 23, 2025

The PIA (Syndicat des Producteurs Professionnels et Indépendants de l’Audio, France) and AudioUK (the industry body for the podcast and audio industry) have announced the launch of the International Podcast Alliance (IPA), a collaborative transnational platform uniting professional organisations representing podcast and audio producers, businesses and publishers globally.
The IPA aims to strengthen dialogue, share market data, promote best practices, support market development, and carry joint advocacy actions at both international and European levels. The initiative responds to common challenges faced by independent producers and publishers, including legal recognition, fair platform practices, access to public funding, and a fragmented ecosystem.
The Alliance is initially joined by professional podcast organisations: Podd- och radioproduktionsbolagen – Podcast and Radio Production Companies (Sweden), the ABIQ – Association du Balado Indépendant du Québec (Quebec, Canada), and the Collectif des producteurs et des productrices belges francophones (Belgium), alongside the PIA – Syndicat des Producteurs Professionnels et Indépendants de l’Audio (France) and AudioUK (UK) the two organisations that spearheaded the initiative. These founding members have agreed to collaborate on knowledge-sharing, benchmarking, and collective advocacy, while encouraging more national organisations to join the Alliance in the coming months.
“The podcast is a global phenomenon, growing everywhere with the same creative energy and the same structural challenges — from the lack of legal status to the absence of fair value sharing. Some answers will be found locally, but many of tomorrow’s solutions will have to be built together, at an international level,” commented Katia Sanerot, President of PIA – The French Union of Independent Audio and Podcast Producers
“At AudioUK, we believe that collaboration is one of the key drivers of growth in the podcast and audio industry. I’m thrilled that we’re partnering with the PIA to launch this new alliance, alongside representatives from Belgium, Sweden, and Canada, with more to come. Podcasting and audio are truly global formats, unbound by borders or geography. It’s exciting to see us come together as a global alliance to continue to grow this fantastic industry, by sharing our expertise, championing best practice and driving innovation,” added Chloe Straw – CEO of AudioUK.
The IPA will operate through quarterly virtual meetings and annual in-person gatherings, hosted in different countries each year. The IPA will hold its first official virtual meeting on November 17th, bringing together the founding members to set priorities, define working methods, and outline future collaborations.
