Report: Cisco’s lower prices lead to Wi-Fi 7 surge

September 5, 2025

According to a report from Dell’Oro Group, a source for market information about the telco, security, networks and data centre industries, enterprise class Wireless LAN (WLAN) revenue grew by double-digits for the second consecutive quarter in Q2 2025, confirming its emergence from the doldrums of 2024.

“Cisco has kept its average Wi-Fi 7 AP price significantly below the price of Wi-Fi 6E when it was first introduced.  This was a catalyst for adoption in the second quarter, encouraging the market transition to the latest Wi-Fi standard,” commented Siân Morgan, Research Director at Dell’Oro Group.

“License revenues continue to play a big part in the market growth. AI Operations is becoming an important part of IT vendors’ offers,” added Morgan. “More enterprises are paying a recurring fee for licenses that enable highly valuable AI-fueled features.”

Additional highlights from the report:

  • CommScope and Ubiquiti both had WLAN revenue growth of over 70 per cent year-over-year.
  • North America expanded more than any other region, expanding over 20 per cent.
  • Public Cloud-managed WLAN grew faster than the overall market, thanks to the accumulating nature of recurring licence fees.
  • A flurry of acquisition activity in the IT equipment sector took place, and these will begin to have impacts on the WLAN market in Q3 2025.
