Documentary channel CuriosityStream has struck a deal with DirecTV. Would-be subscribers have a couple of options to view the non-fiction channel founded by John Hendricks in 2015 (who was the founder of the Discovery Channel).

Existing DirecTV subscribers can sign up to CuriosityStream by paying $5 a month extra. There is also Curiosity NOW which is free to view although ad-supported will now be available on MyFree DirecTV. Both options give viewers access to factual programming from history and adventure to science and technology.

“This is a pivotal moment for Curiosity as we expand our US reach across FAST and SVoD in one comprehensive agreement,” said Jay Sodha, Curiosity’s VP of Business Development and Partnerships. “DirecTV’s scale, brand strength, and evolving platform strategy makes it the perfect partner to help us deliver smart, inspiring, and entertaining content to viewers wherever they are and however they choose to watch.”

CuriosityStream is the streaming home of science, technology, and history content, with thousands of titles including originals.
