Harry Potter fans ready for Back to Hogwarts 2025

The countdown to Back to Hogwarts has begun, and this year’s festivities are set to be more magical than ever…

Every September 1st, Harry Potter fans mark the iconic return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Now, nearly almost a quarter of a century since the first film enchanted audiences, this beloved tradition has grown into an annual global celebration of all things Harry Potter.

In person celebrations

This year also marks 20 years since the release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with a special fan screening event taking place at Cineworld Leicester Square on the August 31st. Tickets are free, strictly limited, essential for entry and will be available from 10am on August 11th.Ticket holders will join James and Oliver Phelps for a Q&A with host Yinka Bokinni and are invited to dress in their best wizarding attire for the chance to win prizes from The Lego Company and The Noble Collection.

All attendees will also receive a Wizarding World, Micro Magical Moments Year 4 Collectible Figure Set from Spinmaster and a Harry Potter 7” Lumos Wand from WOW! Stuff in a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child London branded tote bag. Fun in the foyer photo opportunities will include a themed Great Hall photo op from Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – the Making of Harry Potter.

The iconic Harry Potter ‘Scenes in the Square’ Leicester Square statue will also be dressed in celebratory style in honour of the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire anniversary and Back to Hogwarts with a new Quidditch themed backdrop for photo opportunities on the 31st August 31st. A queuing system will be in operation on the day from 9am to 6pm.

On September 1st, Warner Bros Studio Tour London – the Making of Harry Potter will host 300 lucky guests at a celebratory 11am countdown moment at the Studio Tour, held on the platform next to the iconic Hogwarts Express live on September 1st. Tickets are exclusively available by entering a competition to win, visit @wbtourlondon for more details on how to enter before the competition closes on August 11th.

Fans are reminded that there will be no event, countdown or train announcement at King’s Cross Station on September 1st – and are strongly advised not to travel in order to avoid disappointment.

Nationwide screenings

For fans unable to attend the special Back to Hogwarts screening and Q&A, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will be re-released in cinemas nationwide on August 25th.

Giveaways and special promotions

House of MinaLima also invites fans to join a special meet and greet event on the August 31st where they can get their hands on a limited-edition giveaway Back to Hogwarts 2025 button badge (while supplies last).=

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child London will be giving out special badges to all audience members at performances between September 3rd and 7th.

Visitors to Harry Potter Shop King’s Cross can pose with a special photo opportunity frame and pick up Back to Hogwarts merchandise instore, available from July 28th.

Additional celebrations taking place over the weekend include nationwide activity in Smyths Toys Superstores with photo opportunities, free Lego Mini giveaways, and product promotions on Harry Potter products.

Lego Harry Potter fans will also be able to enjoy many Lego Harry Potter™ themed promotions and events.

In participating stores, Hogwarts Legacy Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition will be on sale for up to 80 per cent off across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Steam and Epic Game Store.

UK fans can also join the celebrations digitally with Wizarding Wednesdays returning between August 13th and September 23rd with prizes galore,

The annual Back to Hogwarts Showcase will return on September 1st at 10:40 BST / 05:40 ET, and will be available to stream on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. Expect news, updates and announcements for the year ahead.

On Snapchat, a new 3D Harry Potter Bitmoji Lens with Friends will also be available to fans globally from mid-August in honour of Back to Hogwarts.

Snapchatters will be able to see their personal Bitmoji digital avatar (decked out in the latest Back to Hogwarts-themed fashion drop, naturally) take a virtual trip into the wizarding world! Watch as your Bitmoji interacts with your friends’ Bitmojis across four different iconic Harry Potter scenes, all in one augmented reality Lens – Hogwarts Letters at the Dursleys’, Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, Putting names into the Goblet of Fire, and the Wizard Chess scene from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
