July 16, 2025

As Europe accelerates its path toward full gigabit connectivity, digital resilience, and secure infrastructure, Connect Europe has announced the expansion of its membership with the inclusion of Ukrtelecom, the national telecom operator of Ukraine, effective immediately.
Ukrtelecom joins Connect Europe as a Full Member, following endorsement by the General Assembly of the association representing the top providers of connectivity networks and services in Europe. This development marks a trategic step forward in reinforcing the association’s commitment to a broader and more inclusive digital Europe, with countries sharing the values of openness, resilience and technological progress.
Ukrtelecom is Ukraine’s largest fixed broadband operator, with a crucial role in providing essential connectivity to homes, businesses, and institutions in the country. The company’s fibre-optic network covers more than 3 million homes in more than 2,000 localities across Ukraine. The company has shown strength and adaptability by continuing to operate and invest in digital infrastructure despite facing unprecedented challenges. As Ukraine advances its digital transformation, Ukrtelecom brings to the Connect Europe community invaluable expertise in safeguarding networks during full-scale war, securing essential services, and contributing to the socio-economic recovery of a nation.
With this latest addition, Connect Europe grows its membership to 43 organisations, further strengthening the association’s role as a platform for collaboration on tech & telecom policy, investment, innovation, competitiveness, and digital inclusion across the continent and beyond.
Alessandro Gropelli, Director General of Connect Europe, commented: “Welcoming Ukrtelecom is a powerful statement about the future of connectivity in Europe. It is a testament to the resilience of Ukraine’s digital sector and a reminder that connectivity is not only about technology, but also about solidarity, democracy, and recovery. We are honoured to support Ukrtelecom’s integration into our ecosystem and to learn from their exceptional experience.”
“Joining Connect Europe is a significant milestone for Ukrtelecom and for Ukraine’s integration into the European digital community. Despite the ongoing war, we continue to build a resilient and future-proof infrastructure that connects people, supports the economy, and strengthens national security. Through this partnership, we are eager to share our unique experience, contribute to Europe’s digital resilience, and cooperate on shaping a secure, inclusive, and innovative digital future,” added Yuriy Kurmaz, CEO of Ukrtelecom.
