From Branislav Pekic in Rome
Meo (Altice Portugal) was the market leader in Portugal for bundled services (TV, internet, fixed and mobile telephony) with a 40.4 per cent market share at the end of 2019.
NOS was second with 37.1 per cent, but was the leader in share of revenues from these services, with 42.4 per cent of the total, ahead of Altice Portugal (40.7 per cent).
According to data from Portugal’s National Communications Authority (Anacom), the number of subscribers to service packages reached around 4.1 million, an annual increase of 4.8 per cent.
The growth was mainly due to the increase in the number of users with quadruple-play and quintuple-play packages (+12.5 per cent), which account for 62.9 per cent of total revenues.
However, despite the increase the number of subscribers to bundled services has decelerated since 2015.
Total revenues from bundled services reached €1.6 billion in 2019 (+4.9 per cent).
