Panasonic production recovering – slowly

Japan’s consumer electronics industry is slowly recovering from the twin disaster of earthquake and tsunami. Panasonic, for example, said that as of the end of March it had resumed production operations in its electronic materials divisions.
To emphasise the ‘business as usual’ message, the Japanese electronics giant kicked off its USA dealer and consumer event at New York’s Grand Central Terminal on Monday with its debut “Experience Amazing” product showcase for its latest Viera TV and Lumix camera ranges. The event is part of a $100m 6-week extravaganza that will tour 15 cities across the USA, while at the same time billboard sites and TV spots will highlight the products.
