Portugal: Sport TV acquires Euro 2020 rights

Sport TV, a Portuguese pay-TV broadcaster, has secured the exclsuive television rights in Portugal for the Euro 2020 football tournament.
Despite traditionally being a pay-TV broadcaster, the company will broadcast the tournament on a FTA basis.
After ” Sport TV today announces that we have acquired the full rights to Euro 2020,” CEO, Nuno Ferreira Pires, said said. “Sport TV will be the official television [station] of Euro 2020 and has acquired all broadcasting rights, including the open signal and closed signal.”
Pires added that the other bidding channels “were not able to meet the requirements of UEFA, so Sport TV took the view that it had to take an additional step.”
