Nokia to swap Symbian for Microsoft?

Shares of Nokia are climbing amid speculation that the company may be about to announce a software alliance with Microsoft that would mean using their operating system in place of the troubled Symbian.
Nokia’s share of the global smartphone market fell to 31 per cent in the fourth quarter from 40 per cent a year earlier, and its profit declined 21 per cent. Windows Phone software powered only 3 per cent of smartphones in the fourth quarter, trailing Android, Symbian, Apple and R.I.M.
