Vodafone adds Movistar content

Vodafone Spain is adding more entertainment TV and movie content to its pay-TV offering at the expense of football – which the operator is reluctant to pay the high cost for broadcasting.
The operator has added Movistar Series and Movistar Estrenos to its line-up giving subscribers access to Telefónica’s Movistar series and film content. Telefónica’s platform is obliged to share its exclusive content with other rivals to guarantee free competition in the market.
In addition, Vodafone is integrating AXN Now into its Video Club, its VoD offer, with over 1,000 hours of new content. AXN Now also distributes 4K content with TV series including S.W.A.T. and or The Good Doctor.
With its investment in TV and film content, Vodafone underlines its decision not to bid for football TV rights. The company has also dropped its motorsports and Formula 1 channels.
With the new additions, Vodafone will offer two packages with series and cinema: Más Series with Movistar Series, SyFy HD, AMC and AXN White for €5 a month; and the package Cine for €10 a month with Movistar Estrenos and Filmin.
