Spanish TV group Atresmedia and Mexican TV company Televisa have signed an agreement to launch Novelas Nova, a SVoD service, on Atresmedia’s OTT platform, Atresplayer, devoted to TV soap operas (Telenovelas).
The service will have over 5,000 hours of content becoming the largest TV soap opera offering in Spain with premieres like La Candidata, La doble vida de Estela Carrillo, Simplemente María, La Malquerida and Corazón Salvaje.
Novelas Nova will be free for the first month across all devices, and up to three simultaneously.
Atresplayer leads the OTT market in Spain with 3.2 million unique users, up 59 per cent in April more than the same month last year. It can be received on PC, tablets and smartphones, as well as Smart TVs and systems like Google Chromecast, Apple TV and Android TV.
