India: Game of Thrones piracy arrests
August 15, 2017
Indian police have arrested four people suspected of leaking an episode HBO’s Game of Thrones before it had aired.
Three of the accused are current employees of Prime Focus Technology – a Mumbai-based company that stores and processes the series for Indian streaming website Hotstar. The fourth individual is a former employee.
Episode four of the seventh season was leaked on August 4th, days before it was due to air globally. The arrests were only related to the leaked episode, not the most recent hack. The four have been charged with criminal breach of trust and will be detained until August 21st.
